At the young age of 10, Dr. Okwu made the decision to become a doctor and worked hard every day to make her dream a reality. She graduated at the top of her high school class in 1999 and went on to attend the University of Illinois at Chicago.  She graduated in 2004 with college honors and a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry.

She attended Medical School at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois. During her time in medical school, she decided on a career in Pediatrics. She graduated in 2009 and matched into the General Pediatrics residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. She spent 6 years at the Cleveland Clinic doing her General Pediatrics residency and subsequently Pediatric Gastroenterology fellowship. After completion of her fellowship training in 2015, she moved to Texas and has practiced here for the last 5 years.

She is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and also Pediatric Gastroenterology. She is a wife and mother to 3 active young children who coincidentally have dealt with their fair share of common gastrointestinal problems. With her busy life of being both a physician and a mom, Dr. Okwu enjoys those rare times when she can spend working out or just enjoying a good movie.

At all times, she strives to provide compassionate, efficient, quality and evidence-based care to all her patients and support to their parents. As part of her mission to provide accessible care, she will be accepting all major commercial insurance plans and medicaid. In light of the ongoing COVID 19 pandemic and the financial implications for a lot of families, she will also be seeing uninsured patients (payment plans are available). Finally, she has hospital privileges at the North Central Baptist Hospital.
